How We Work?

  • Mission

ARC Foundation is a leading force in cancer research. We fund world-class research programmes across all areas, from fundamental scientific discovery to translational and clinical research that directly benefits patients. We also work to provide the public with clear, accurate information about cancer and the latest advances in research.

  • Conviction

In a world where cancer remains one of the leading causes of death, we hold one core belief: only advances in research will enable us to cure cancer. This conviction drives everything we do.

  • Funding

We rely entirely on the generosity of our donors and those who remember us in their Wills. Their support allows us to sustain our vital work year after year. Thanks to their kindness, we allocated over € 33 million in 2024 to research projects that offer real hope for patients.

  • Vision

Today, we help cure approximately 2 out of 3 cancers. By 2035, our ambition is to help cure 3 out of 4 cancers. This is the future we're working towards, and we need your support to get there.

  • Network

Cancer research is a collective endeavour. Scientists, donors, legators, corporate partners—ARC Foundation brings together and coordinates all the forces engaged in the fight. As a leader in innovative research, we unite around programmes designed to make a real difference in therapeutic progress.

The essential question: what exactly is a foundation?

A foundation is a charitable organisation established by one or more private donors to serve a cause of public interest on a not-for-profit basis. The ARC Foundation for Cancer Research was created in 2012 through a statutory evolution of the Association for Cancer Research (ARC), itself founded in1962 .

Our Annual Report

ARC Foundation publishes its annual activity report and financial statements each year. These documents illustrate the breadth of our work in supporting cancer research.

Pioneering the Fight Against Cancer for Over 60 Years

  • The Association for Cancer Research (ARC) is founded in Villejuif, France. Its mission: to fund cancer research and drive scientific progress.
  • The ARC is granted public benefit status. Over the following decades, it becomes an indispensable force behind breakthroughs in the fight against cancer.
  • The ARC becomes ARC Foundation for Cancer Research, a registered public benefit foundation with an ambitious goal: to accelerate the pace of research.
  • The Foundation makes one of its largest contributions to research in its history: over €33 million invested in life-saving science.

Funding Research

Our work relies entirely on the generosity of our donors and those who remember us in their Wills. We are deeply committed to the responsible stewardship of their generosity, channelling every pound towards our ultimate goal: to one day cure cancer—every single type of cancer.

Shared Perspectives: ARC Foundation Through the Eyes of Donors, Patients and Researchers

  • "I'm in remission thanks to research. My journey was challenging and at times felt insurmountable, but I tried to transform my wounds into strength and courage. Today, I've been in remission for 10 years—thanks to research."

  • "My legacy is a gesture of love in memory of my wife. In the ordinary course of everyday life, we forget that illness can strike at any moment. Sadly, that's exactly what happened to us."

  • For me, ARC Foundation is first and foremost a structure that brings together international research forces in the fight against cancer. Thanks to its reputation and network, we can take a collective approach to research, both in France and across Europe."
